American Justice

American Justice
(An executive sits at his desk in a plush office. Enter police.)

Officer: Sir, I'm afraid we must ask you to come with us.

Exec: Why?

Officer: You're the top man in this company, aren't you?

Exec: Yes.

Officer: Then you are responsible for over seventeen hundred counts of fraud.

Exec: That's impossible. All of our employees sign a contract which assigns full responsibility to them for any fraud they might commit in the performance of their duties. We won't hire them otherwise. (He opens a desk drawer and pulls out a sheet.) See? (He hands over the paper.)

Officer: (Reading) I see, yes. Well then, have a good day. Sorry we disturbed you. (Exit police.)
