Ambush Journalism

Ambush Journalism
(A man waters his back yard garden when a reporter and her crew in army fatigues spring out from behind a hedge.)

Reporter: Hold it right there! What do you think you're doing?

Man: Who are you?

Reporter: I'll ask the questions! What sort of a 'crop' are you cultivating here?

Man: Gladiolas, tulips, and marigolds.

Reporter: What about those red ones over there?

Man: Those are poppies.

Reporter: Poppies, eh? Why didn't you mention your poppies? (Aside) Zeke, are you journalizing all of this?

Zeke: (Writing into tablet) Got it.

Man: Look, am I in some kind of trouble?

Reporter: Why would you think you're in trouble? Did you do something wrong?

Man: I'm going back in the house.

Reporter: Oh no, you're not. You're coming with us. (They seize the man and drag him off against his howls of protest.)
